"The officers are to be commended, she added, for taking responsibility for their actions.", no where do I read that they reported themselves and that it was only after drunken attack was proved by video tape that they suddenly took responsibility - what an example they are - never do the right and lawful thing till you are caught and forced to. No where does it say the brave young men who caught the unlawful acts of the Peel police on tape should be "commended" The "she" who suggests "The officers are to be commended," appears to be this appears to be Crown prosecutor Lynda Bordeleau, however, another Newspaper lists her as "Peel police lawyer" (which seems more likely), none-the-less it is morally completely wrong. It is applying a double standard, one law for the those who don't matter to the police and government and one law for those who matter. It is no wonder that the public knows the Peel police are as corrupt as politicians are. Socking still the effort is so bias towards the Peel police that they are trying to drum up sympathy for criminal cops - "a difficult way to start a career," Bordeleau said." NO, it should be the END of his career! What is next these Peel police officers criminal to do list, robbing banks or maybe to see if they can get away with murder? Well how about we give the a commendation, no wait how about a medal for beating up 2 defenseless youths and then have a parade down Main street, I am sure hazel McCallion would love to lead it. All together this really puts us in our place and shows what happens if we get uppity! How can any reasonable person read these comments and believe there can be justice in our Court? Especially as no cop was charged! Toronto Star - May 18, 2007 - By John Goddard, Staff Reporter 2 Peel officers demoted for beer bash Two Peel police officers face demotions after pleading guilty yesterday to two counts each of discreditable conduct in relation to a parking-lot beer bash caught on videotape last summer. Ten others " including two sergeants" pleaded guilty to one count each of discreditable conduct, and face penalties of between four and nine days work without pay. Two more officers are prepared to plead guilty to the same charge but were not present at the disciplinary hearing before Acting Supt. Blair Foley. Crown prosecutor Lynda Bordeleau and Peel Police Services Association agent Bob Baltin agreed to recommend demotions for Const. Mark McLaughlin and Const. Michael Bishop. Not only did they play central roles in the wild overnight party, the hearing was told, they also contributed two cases of beer they had confiscated from illegal drinkers that afternoon. Sentencing for all 14 Peel officers was set for June 12. Sometime after midnight Aug. 27, 24 officers showed up to drink behind an Ethan Allen home furnishings store on Dundas St. W. in Mississauga. At one point, some of them spotted two figures on a roof and yelled at them to leave. The two were Richard Cimposeau, then 24, and Orlando Canizalez, 21, who were videotaping the gathering. The tape, played at an earlier hearing, shows several officers howling like wolves and exhibiting other signs of intoxication. In a $12 million civil suit against the officers, the videographers say they were chased, assaulted, robbed and threatened. None of the allegations has been proved in court and no assault charge was laid against any of the 10 officers. Charges against most of the officers included illegal drinking, not identifying themselves as police, not giving a reason for detention, not taking notes and not calling an officer on duty. McLaughlin faces demotion to second-class constable from first class. Bishop faces demotion to fourth class from third class "a difficult way to start a career," Bordeleau said. All the charges are serious and the suggested penalties stiff, she said. The officers are to be commended, she added, for taking responsibility for their actions.
