Opening comments:  More at the end.

Well I see the special relationship between Hazel McCallion (and she is the one who tells the City what to do) and our legal system (includes the Crown {prosecutors}, Courts and police), has moved to a whole new level.  Have to wonder who is kissing who's butt now and if they need to wipe before hand, now.  The rest of us should be very concerned as this award was given to the City after the City has set up its own legal system, is setting records for the number of people it bans from City property (and the amount it collect when they try to Appeal to the City), and entrapped me - talk about the big lie - Hitler was right, tell a small lie and no one believe you tell THE BIG LIE and you get what you want.  How do you cover-up evil doing?  Hove those who's hands are just as dirty but still some respect in the unknowing mind of the public give an award and people will never question or look deeper.  Watch the magician's right hand, never the left.

City of Mississauga News release - Oct 12, 2006

City of Mississauga Awarded for Best Practices in Prosecutions
by the Prosecutions' Association of Ontario

At yesterday's meeting of Council, the City of Mississauga's Legal Services Prosecutions staff were acknowledged for receiving the Corporate Award of Merit and Recognition of Achievement from the Prosecutors' Association of Ontario. The award was accepted by manager of prosecutions, Doug Meehan at the annual Prosecutors' Association Conference held in Muskoka this September.

"We are honoured to be selected amongst many worthy organizations," said city solicitor and director of legal services, Mary Ellen Bench. "The prosecutions unit proactively assists the association's leaders in training and serves as an example of best practices in prosecutions."

The primary function of the prosecution unit is to conduct trials and appeals for charges laid by internal enforcement staff, Peel Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police.  In addition to these prosecutions the unit is responsible for preparing and providing witness subpoenas and disclosure for all charges they prosecute.  The Prosecution unit handles a workload on a daily basis consisting of approximately 120 trials and 60 first attendance (resolution) meetings.

The mission of the Prosecutors' Association of Ontario mission is to promote integrity, professional standards and independence in prosecutions through education.  It was formed in 1995 to unite legal counsel, prosecutors and related staff from municipal, provincial and local agencies and to promote ethical practices.

Mississauga is Canada's sixth largest city with a population of more than 700,000.  With well-established infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities, the City delivers quality municipal programs and services to its citizens.  Mississauga is recognized as Canada's safest city.
