City of Mississauga News Release - Oct. 01, 2009 Mississauga Council Asks For Judicial Inquiry In a 6 to 4 recorded vote, Mississauga Council passed a resolution yesterday giving direction to the City Solicitor to initiate a judicial inquiry into the City's purchase of lands within the City Centre. This decision was reached after a corporate report entitled "Response to Issues Raised by Council – Proposed or Pending Acquisition or Disposition by the Municipality or a Local Board – Agreement of Purchase and Sale – Lands within the City Centre" which contains opinions obtained from the law firm McLean & Kerr LLP on the issues of conflicts and the real estate transaction, and a supplementary report entitled Appraisal Review & Consulting Report prepared by GSI Real Estate & Planning Advisors, was released after an in-camera session and made public. As City Solicitor, I will begin preparing the terms of reference for this inquiry and will report back to Council as soon as possible. Copies of these reports are available online on the City's website at www.mississauga.ca Mary Ellen Bench, BA, LLB, CS Home Page - Main Table of Contents - Back up a page - Back to Top [COMMENTS BY DON B. - ] |
