The Province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is waiting for an accident reconstruction report before determining whether a Peel Regional Police officer will be charged in an Aug. 12 crash near the Sheridan Centre that seriously injured an eight-year-old boy.
The report, being prepared by the SIU, should be ready in the next few weeks.
The police officer wasn't responding to a call or involved in a pursuit when his cruiser struck a Mazda at Erin Mills Pkwy. and Sheridan Park Dr. at about 9 p.m.
The boy, a passenger in the car being driven by his mother, is recovering, police said.
The woman and the police officer were treated for minor injuries.
SIU spokesperson Frank Phillips said two civilian witnesses have been interviewed as part of the probe.
The SIU, a provincial body that investigates incidents involving police where there's been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault, designated the driver of the cruiser as the subject officer while another has been designated a witness officer.

Looking for information
(heresay ) I received information that a sergeant from 21 division was in a pursuit. and hit a car .(heresay) either last Monday Oct 17 or Oct 18. The Sergant appologizeise to the womam driver, (car was written off) Did anyone witness this? How come I have not read anything in any paper about this?
