Mississauga News - Aug. 5, 2010 - Letter by Tom McCarthy, Mississauga.

Kudos!

Dear Editor:

Kudos to Therese Taylor for her article “Mayor Should Step Down,” published Aug. 4, and hats off to The News for running it.

After so many years of Hazel-worship, it is refreshing to read something that does not cater to the blind allegiance so often afforded to our “beloved mayor.”

Whether it is venerable age, dedicated public service, crusty outspokenness or whatever, Hazel (McCallion) does not have an inalienable right — almost a divine right in the eyes of some — to the position of mayor of Mississauga.

Taylor’s article speaks as much to that sentiment as to the land deal issue involving Hazel and her son.

Good for Taylor!

He Get One Thing Right, At Least

Tom you are correct, in that sje does not have ?an inalienable right — almost a divine right in the eyes of some — to the position of mayor of Mississauga." But if she keeps running, and the voters elect her, who are YOU to decide what rights she has.
