Mississauga News - Aug. 7. 2009 - BLOG by Bucky1 - Running On Empty Just plain nasty I still can't get over that stunning performance by Ward 7 councillor Nando Iannicca during Wednesday's meeting at City Hall.He appears to be an arrogant politician who lives in some dream world where he is king (or, at least, king in waiting) and he can deal with his disloyal subjects in any manner he sees fit. There is no excuse for the way he dressed down a young man who brought (in my opinion) a very valid concern before council. He should be ashamed of himself, but nooooo ... in a subsequent interview, he reiterated his position and justified his actions. That bright and polite young man, according to nasty Nando, is a no-good NDP troublemaker who deserves all he got ... and then some. But Nando isn't alone in his incredible lack of caring for the opinions of the very people who voted him into office ... Our once great Mayor Hazel McCallion chided the same young man smugly and Ward 6 councillor Carolyn Parrish was at her condescending best as she addressed the matter. Hey, councillors, you don't like the words "smug" or "condescending" ... here's a couple more descriptors of your performance and attitudes: out of touch and mean-spirited. Finally, a note to the other councillors who were there: How could you let this pass without comment, never mind coming to the young man's defence? A shameful performance by the whole darn bunch of you. The documents I've seen since January 2007?... I swear! I know this Mayor and Councillors have blighted people's lives during their Reign of Barrier. But it's only been the last while that I've begun to wonder how many Vulnerables have actually given up as in despair --even suicide. This getting kicked in the teeth and ass by City officials and Staff is nothing. Surely it's got to be the covert callousness paired with the duplistic "We are a caring community" that must surely be the Killer for some folks... (what I've experienced and documented) That question's got me wondering a lot now. Municipalities... BULLIES and LIARS.
