Mississauga News - Dec. 17, 2009 - Letter by Linda McClennan, Mississauga Wake up, councillors Dear Editor: Comments by others - 8 - to this web-page at time of posting; Tony Jackson Dec 20, 2009 2:52 PM Thank Councilor Parrish.........!!!! Ms.McClennan, you may notice that Carolyn Parrish is one of the first timers on the City Council. It may not be easy to challenge decades-old, powerful, corrupt, “system” at the City Hall. May be some of the councilors have limited moral standing to question such corruption (for instance, it was all over the media that Councilor Eve Adams was engaged in malpractices during her last election). Again not-declaring the C-of-I by mayor is not the main issue. Perhaps we may thank councilor Parrish for her courageous leadership to “fight for the people”. * Agree 6 - Offensive 1 Stephen Wahl Dec 20, 2009 10:45 AM Welcome to Oz Remember the old cartoon jingle The world of Oz is a funny funny place Where everyone wears a funny funny face And the streets are paved with gold And no one ever grows old In that funny funny place Called the world of Oz So naturally, if the streets are paved with gold, the potholes must be filled appropriately * Agree 1 The Mississauga Muse Dec 18, 2009 4:39 PM To Think About It. That video at: http://tinyurl.com/ye9qdqp is something huh? The creator subscribed to MISSISSAUGAWATCH YouTube and I surfed over and had a peek at his material. I still say that it could've been an error on the part of the television station. But still. Given the lack of compliance to policies on the part of Mississauga staff, I'm not at all confident in the voting/election system they have in place. Like I keep sayin'. MYTHissauga has an infinite capacity to pervert. * Agree 1 Uatu Dec 18, 2009 3:17 PM OMG MUSE! That Globe writer's last name is BARBER! Even worse, he mentioned POTHOLES! * Agree 2 Uatu Dec 18, 2009 3:11 PM Not a waste Hi Linda. I agree with everything you wrote right up to your question. The fact that you asked it indicates to me that you don't know or have misunderstood the terms of the inquiry. The Mayor's "failure to declare" (which I happen to think is a minor incident of no consequence) is not what the inquiry is about. It is investigating the mysterious and rather stinky changes to the Enersource agreement, and the relationship between World Class Developments (Peter McCallion's company) and OMERS and the City. The former arises at least partially out of changes to the Enersource contract that were never seen let alone approved by Council, and the latter from the discovery that the Mayor attended meetings that involved the financial interests of both her son and the City. (See http://www.mississaugainquiry.ca/about/index.html.) That's why the money has to be spent. * Agree 3 The Mississauga Muse Dec 18, 2009 11:20 AM People might want to read today's Globe in light of this writer's noises MISSISSAUGA'S BAD EXAMPLE Hazel's got her own gold. Crying poor won't put cities on the election agenda" at: http://tinyurl.com/yer5wr8 Interesting article in light of her son also crying "modest means". * Agree 1 Think About It Dec 18, 2009 10:14 AM As I watched my own records being mutilated under the FOI, now this 2003 clip raises the eye brow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O-bFYXF2xs&feature=player_embedded * Agree 1 Stephen Wahl Dec 18, 2009 8:50 AM The responsibilities of elected office Do not worry; there will be enough blame to go all around. The Inquiry is in large part to sort whose actions were deliberate, whose were negligent, whose were irresponsible and, who were just plain inattentive; or as you said in your letter, sleeping on the job. * Agree 2 Home Page - Main Table of Contents - Back up a page - Back to Top [COMMENTS BY DON B. - ] |
