Mississauga News - June 12, 2009 - Letter by Donald Barber A grand excuse Dear Editor:Do those running City Hall know how to use their computers? At the June 10 council meeting, Ursula Keuper Bennett (aka, The Mississauga Muse) stood alone before the mayor and councillors during the dreaded public question period. A specific reference was made to a report that had been presented to council members a week before at general committee. At that point, Councillor Nando Iannicca said they couldn’t deal with it as they didn’t have a copy of the report before them. While leaving I had a ‘hold on a second’ moment. The mayor and councillors have computer screens in front of them. Can’t they call up the report at will? And if not, why not? Are we not living in the age of computers that give us near instant access to needed information? And yet, in City Hall, ‘I haven’t got the papers’ is still a grand excuse to avoid questions from voters. Home Page - Main Table of Contents - Back up a page - Back to Top [COMMENTS BY DON B. - ] |
