Someone needs to speak out and ask the intelligent question - hard job but someone has to do it if our Democracy is to survive. Mississauga News - Letter to the Editor - June 25, 2007 By Donald Barber RE: In regards to "Peel Party police". Given the record breaking number of Peel police being charged for wrong doing or out right criminal actions as well as the huge dollar amount taxpayers are on the hook for in regards to lawsuits and fines, why has Mississauga politicians been so silent on this issue? It affects us finically, threatens the public’s safety and makes us the laughing stock of the major Cities of Canada because of the “Party” police’s behaviour. Also, I wonder why their dirty deeds don’t appear to happening in Mississauga and not the City of Brampton or Town of Caledon at nearly the same frequency or intensity. Why have the names of those who put themselves at risk to hold the “Party” police accountable, not been out forward for medals? Are Mississauga City Councillors afraid to criticize the police? Why has the media not been asking politicians for their comments on the bad apples conduct? Especially when the profiling taking place is just a politically correct way of saying bigots on the government pay roll are enforcing their prejudices on the public, at our expense. Do the police have something on them? Can’t our politicians do their jobs and look out for the public’s interest first and fore most - or are they hoping we will not notice, as surely they must have. Is it a case of their silence is really their agreement with the “Party” police’s behaviour - after all the boys have to let off stream now and then - who are we to fault them for that? Or as Canadians, we secretly really know we can’t expect any better from them. Home Page - Main Table of Contents - Back up a page - Back to Top [COMMENTS BY DON B. - ] |
