Peel police officer charged with theft,
breach of trust
A Peel police officer has been charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of trust after an internal investigation.
Const. Peter Takacs has been suspended from duty and will appear in court Mar. 21.
The charges are a result of an investigation by the Professional Standards Bureau, a department within the Peel police.
According to a police news release, the investigation concerned an incident that occurred involving found property turned in at the Meadowvale Town Centre Community Station, where Takacs worked.
Takacs was an officer with the neighbourhood policing unit, a group of officers responsible for working with high schools and local youth.

Officer suspended
A Peel Regional Police constable who works out of the neighbourhood policing unit of 11 Division in Erin Mills has been suspended from duty while he faces two criminal charges.
In a press release yesterday, police said the incident involves property that was turned over to police Feb. 9 at the Meadowvale Town Centre community station.
Cst. Peter Takacs faces two charges, one of theft under $5,000 and one of breach of trust. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in court on the charges March 21 in Brampton.
Takacs has been an officer with Peel for four years.
