International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Worker District Lodge No. 78To the non-Union employees of the City of Mississauga At a recent meeting with management you were given a handout outlining changes and improvements offered to you by the City. We have looked at what was offered and would like to take this time to respond and give you some information to think about. Many of you have expressed an interest in joining those of your fellow workers who have already joined the IAMAW to negotiate better working conditions, fair wages and an improved relationship with your employer through a Collective Agreement.
Equality and Justice * The IAMAW is dedicated to representing you. * You negotiate so you do not have to beg. * Your Collective Agreement protects you and cannot taken away.
Redesigned Salary Structure * Fewer Grades ? Yes * Automatic Increase ? Maybe ? 2% Yes (By careful placement most employees will fit into a pay grade which will not trigger an automatic pay increase.) * Progression Through Pay Grade ? Maybe (If your supervisor likes you. Your progression still depends on what management thinks not on what you do.) * Who Decides Your Pay Grade and How ? Do You Know ?
Parks and Recreation * Part Time $ 3.00 per hour. Well deserved! * Full Time under 5 years $ 3000.00 per yr. * Full Time over 5 years 2% * Is this FAIR? Or is this an attempt by the City to divide employees and stop the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers organizing drive?
Parks and Recreation * Do not be fooled by this tactic of the City. * Join your fellow workers and sign a card today. * When the vote comes VOTE for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to represent you. * Your future is up to YOU!

Ask Yourself This * If the City of Mississauga knew they were paying less than other cities, why did they wait until now to correct this inequity ? * They know you would join with your fellow workers and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to receive fair compensation. They do not want this. Ask yourself why?
Enhanced Benefit Plan * The improvements to your benefit plan are significant and long overdue. * What Changed? * The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers now represents some of the cities employees and the City does, not want you to join them. Ask yourself why.
Think About This * Does the City really believe its' employees deserve better benefits? NO * How do you know this? * You will notice these improvements were only offered to Non Union employees. Ask yourself why?
Ask Yourself This * If the City of Mississauga knew they were providing lower benefits than other cities, why did they wait until now to correct this inequity ? * They know you would join with your fellow workers and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to receive fair benefits. They do not want this. Ask yourself why?
Think About This * Does The City Really Care ? NO * If the City really cared about you and your health and wellness they would have provided you with the same health benefits as other City employees have. . They would not have waited until now to offer you this improved package. Ask yourself why now.
Think About This * If the City really cared about its' employees they would provided all employees with the best Health Care Benefits possible. When ask if these improved benefits would be given to unionized employees the city reply was NO. Ask yourself why? * The City wants you to believe you and your health is important to them. If this is true why did it take them so long to realize this and act. The truth is the City wants to divide its' employees and play them against each other.
The Real Reason * The City is giving you these improvements for only one reason. * The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers now represents some of the cities employees and the City does not want you to join them. * Ask yourself why.
Life Insurance Coverage * The improvement to Basic Life only benefited those employees earning more than $ 125,000.00 per year. * AD&D improvement is about 33 & 1/3% for, employee's earning less than $100,000.00 per year.
