GREAT Letter to Editor by Jason Martins at: www.mississauga.com/opinion/letters/article/78174--outraged GREAT Letter to Editor by Jason Martins at: www.mississauga.com/opinion/letters/article/78174--outraged He starts out, “I’m outraged by Ward 7 City councillor Nando Iannicca and Council, and further outraged by his shameful display of arrogance in defending his position...” and keeps on getting’ better. Signed, The (commenting here cuz' comments make it onto the front door) Mississauga Muse Think About It Aug 17, 2009 1:54 PM Nandoed Platitude Receptors One of these days you’re simply going to have to sign my 1 in 5 Youth Charter guitar yourself Ursula and document the details behind it’s Made in Mississauga construction. The Mississauga –Oakville NDP wouldn’t have any merits in front of a Queen’s Park nor a Parliamentary committee the way their PPAG minutes process were deviated and steered away from the normal process in regards to Mr. Iannicca’s “Passing the Buck”. Former PPAG chair, Nancy Stephenson ran a similar issue directly through councilor Katie Mahoney, before the chair had resigned, then Mrs. Toth dropped an issue through Malton MP Ruby Dhalla that were at opposite ends and irrelevant to Pat Martin’s presence at the Bear Head query after the motion had been agreed by all 3 Parties, with exception to Robin Sears former Chief of Staff with the NDP, who’s employed by the conservative consultants Navigation, Jamie Watt The Mississauga Muse Aug 16, 2009 2:47 PM For the ultimate (and funny) take on the Iannicca mega-dump on Hamilton-Smith... Check out Bucky1's Blog "Nando's the word". For context, Bucky1 describes himself as “Managing Editor of The Mississauga News”. In his Blog “Running on Empty” Bucky1 writes, "’In an earlier blog entry I conveyed my desire to achieve immortality by starting my own word. I've got a few ideas, courtesy of one of our most venerable city councillors. From now on,whenever you get a blast of someone's unreasonable temper, whenever you are mocked or needlessly ridiculed, you should say: ‘I've been nandoed.’" Read more at: http://www.mississauga.com/blog/post/77981--nando-s-the-word And I’ve added “nando” to the MISSISSAUGAWATCH Glossary. Yes (83%) No (17%) Undecided (0%) Total Votes: 6" You understand what the other 5 who voted are saying here, right? That someone can be an effective Mayor/Councillor for a decade, he loses it just once on the citizen and you believe he should resign! People, I've spent over $2,000 in Freedom of Information investigating City of Mississauga Corporate Security because THAT'S WHAT *THEY* BELIEVE! THAT'S HOW *THEY* OPERATE! What is this call for resignation here but an INDEFINITE BAN?! Any of you who voted "Yes, Iannicca should resign" there's a job for you at City of Mississauga Corporate Security! Signed, The (You'd fit in well with the Misstapo knobs!) Mississauga Muse P.S. I'd be defending almost every Councillor like that --even the ones who are unworthy and thoroughly disgust me. Think About It Aug 11, 2009 9:07 AM Like what’s the point? The bulk of Mississauga’s common wealth was sold out to German Thyssen Industries lobbyist, Karlheinz Schreiber and thus the Bear Head Airbus inquiry confirmed a big whopping inside trading discrepancy of $230,000 - $300,000 that began in McCallion’s backyard, Fathom Oceanology in 1988. McCallion was appointed by Mike Harris to steer this fall out and blend it into the property taxes, is what the hush factor is all about. Niether any of these people or councilors have the gonads to go on Facebook where all 3 parties have collected on public forum. It's these people you "cant trust" are running away from their own personalities in true to life form. * Agree 1 - Disagree 1 The Mississauga Muse Aug 9, 2009 1:24 PM MISSISSAUGAWATCH to Uatu. IMAGINE! Hey there, Uatu, first you quoted my "The Good that man has the potential for doing if he was just committed to the Public Good!" and then you observed " ...but he's not." Ok, yeah, well sure, but that ain't stoppin' me from tryin' to RECRUIT him. I repeat what i wrote about Nando Iannicca. "By FAR the brightest of the elected official I've met at any level so far --as well as mesmerizingly-eloquent." Imagine someone THAT gifted championing the cause of Peel Youth! Seriously, Uatu. IMAGINE! Like I do. **IMAGINE**! Uatu Aug 9, 2009 1:05 PM If wishes were horses we'd all ride like kings "The Good that man has the potential for doing if he was just committed to the Public Good!" ...but he's not. The Mississauga Muse Aug 9, 2009 3:46 AM Iannicca has the greatest potential of any poltical figure I've met to champion The Good if he made that his goal.... Watcher, you wrote< "For Nando to be stand by his comments shows how extreme his political beliefs are but don’t forget the rest of Council sat in silence, letting it happen." Please see my Letter to the Editor referring to Mayor and Councillors are SOCK PUPPETS. In that letter I wrote, "It doesn’t matter who sits in the mayor’s/councillors’ chairs. You could replace them with sock puppets. It’s City staff who call the shots. The mayor and councillors simply rubber stamp things." Get this. When I first started researching Council, I viewed Iannicca as the Crown Prince of the evil empire. I vilified him the most. Now he's actually my favourite Councillor. By FAR the brightest of the elected official I've met at any level so far --as well as mesmerizingly-eloquent. The Good that man has the potential for doing if he was just committed to the Public Good! Disagree 1 WatcherOIO Aug 9, 2009 12:44 AM New nick name contest. The Mayor has the nick name of “Hurricane Hazel”, what Nando’s nick name be after his junkyard dog attack in Council on a Missisaugan. WatcherOIO Aug 9, 2009 12:41 AM 1 The best apology to Andrew Hamilton-Smith and the rest of Mississauga is a resignation from City Council of the offending politicians. The revolution has start! Can’t remember the last time the Missing News called on a member of Mississauga Council to resign, who was not before the Courts. Remember Gyles setting new records for corruption. The abuse often dished out by the OLD GUARD of City hall is to make sure those who try to speak to Council will not return. We should see Andrew as a hero for standing his ground in the face of such abuse, which was started by the Mayor. Nando, acted like a school yard bully, mocking and laughing but most of all Nando was not telling the truth. When an elected official mocks a taxpayer who addresses them in all honesty, they make a mockery of Democracy! For Nando to be stand by his comments shows how extreme his political beliefs are but don’t forget the rest of Council sat in silence, letting it happen. * Agree 1 WatcherOIO Aug 9, 2009 12:40 AM 2 The best apology to Andrew Hamilton-Smith and the rest of Mississauga is a resignation from City Council of the offending politicians. I had to go up and “educate” Councillor Nando Iannicca as to the facts and he didn’t dispute them. I even got the Mayor to retract her statement about people still having right to question Council. To the Mississauga News credit it noted that the attack by Councillor and Mayor was “clearly a red herring designed to divert Hamilton-Smith and avoid his questions”, yes the lies were thick at that meeting and so obvious to those who know how the game is played. The Missing News would do us a service to list them. The best apology to Andrew Hamilton-Smith and the rest of Mississauga is a resignation from City Council, after all this is not the first time Nando has been a great embarrassment to Mississauga. Nor the first time Councillors have embarrassment the City for their attacks on Mississaugans and our Canadian Democracy, remember Satio, remember my arrest. * Agree 2 The Mississauga Muse Aug 7, 2009 3:43 PM Maybe a new low youve seen, MissyNews but *I* file FREEDOM OF INFORMATION and there are much lower lows for Mississauga Council I watched the REIGN OF BARRIER that is City of Mississauga Council with rapt fascination via webcast. Regarding Mississauga Council, MissyNews points out that "Instead of responding to his questions, they bashed Queen’s Park policies, clearly a red herring designed to divert Hamilton-Smith and avoid his questions." Get this! Mayor and her hypocritical Councillors --ALL OF THEM, have at one time or another preached and bragged about how superior they are to the Provincial and Federal levels. Preached and bragged that of all three levels of government it is the LOCAL GOVERNMENT that is "closest to the people". I tell you, watching what happened --Parrish and Iannicca and Prentice (let's not forget her) was like having a turd stuffed inside your mouth and being forced to count to 30 before you could rinse with raw sewage! Um. Didn’t Mississauga just flush $500,000 on Conversation for the 21st Century?… * Agree 4 Uatu Aug 7, 2009 1:36 PM It must have been raining anvils at the Civic Centre because... The irony here is staggering. First, the outburst occurred after several Councillors spoke of how open and receptive to the public Mississauga Council is. ("Welcome to Council! Let me tear a strip off your back!") Second, it happened while discussing changes to the very by-law that requires respect from both deputants (section 27) and Councillors (section 22(1)) and which should have resulted in discipline for Iannicca. No surprise that he later brushed off the whole incident. He hasn't got the self-awareness to be embarrassed. If he can't see how bad he looked, and how bad he made Council look, then the Mississauga News is absolutely right. He should resign. * Agree 7 The Mississauga Muse Aug 9, 2009 4:10 AM Iannicca has the greatest potential of any poltical figure I've met to champion The Good if he made that his goal.... Just repeatiing a portion of the comment I wrote for the Editorial, "Step down, Nando" Here goes. When I first started researching Mississauga Council back in June 2006, I viewed Iannicca as the Crown Prince of the evil empire. I vilified him the most. Now he's actually my favourite Councillor. Iannicca is by FAR the brightest of any elected official that I've met at any level --as well as mesmerizingly-eloquent. The Good that man has the potential of doing if he just committed himself to the Public Good! I'd love to see Iannicca's indignation aimed Full and True in the direction it belongs –the City senior staff “Leadership Team” and their Reign of Barrier mismanagement! Signed, The (I file Freedom of Information so I KNOW!) Mississauga Muse Disagree 1 WatcherOIO Aug 8, 2009 10:35 PM 1 Shocked but not surprised and said that right to Nando’s face People don’t believe me when I say that “Hurricane Hazel” (wonder what should Nando’s nick name should be), her Council of abusers and staff of bullies make life living hell should they try to be involved in how City hall does business, question, seek accountability and of course just plain disagree. I am use to the abuse often dished out by the OLD GUARD of City hall and followed after Andrew to the podium to address Council with renewed purpose. Made it clear I was going to “educate” those on Council who attacked a Mississaugan, claiming to know better then he about how Queens Park was run and Nando didn’t dare try the same stunt on me as he knows I will not back down and know the facts. In fact I even got the Mayor to retract her statement about people still having right to question Council * Agree 1 - Disagree 1 WatcherOIO Aug 8, 2009 10:34 PM 2 Shocked but not surprised and said that right to Nando’s face It needs to be noted that it was the Mayor who started it and attack dog Nando only followed. We should all be thankful for have the chance to publicly see how these politicians have been treating taxpayers in private, all these years. Fact is the Mayor could not or would not control Nando who has MANY times been an embarrassment to Mississauga and the other Councillor also sat on their lone-some spotted behinds, their silence approval. They all have to go! Missing from the news article is that he was on the winning side, finial approval for the changes to Public Question Period were not approved but refereed back to committee for input as they got none. The public can still write in say no! * Agree 1 - Disagree 1 Uatu Aug 8, 2009 1:25 PM Nando knows no shame To be fair to Councillor Iannicca (even though he was anything but fair to Hamilton-Smith) he knew because the man said he was associated with the NDP. Apparently Iannicca feels this meant the rules were suspended, there was no need to be polite, and he no longer was obliged to perform his duty as Councillor to listen to what a citizen had to say. Given the way Nando kept snorting "NDP!" derisively, he clearly thinks if you say you are NDP then you forfeit your rights as a citizen of Mississauga. He's implied that he'd do the same to anyone representing a political party. I have my doubts about that. Not regretting his outburst reveals more about Iannicca than he should want us to know, but the man is impossible to embarrass. * Agree 3 - Disagree 1 48dixie Aug 8, 2009 11:55 AM Time to retire Total arrogance.. total misdirection of anger ( bad day, Nondo ? ).. Get out of the kitchen / time to get that big financial plum position that you think you can get. And how do you actually know he was there on behalf of a political party ? Please let us all know ?? Secret information ? This really shows why there should be limits to councillor's terms of office !!! * Agree 2 - Disagree 1 Home Page - Main Table of Contents - Back up a page - Back to Top [COMMENTS BY DON B. - ] |
