Mississauga News - May 12, 2010 - By Julie Slack - jslack@mississauga.net

Same school, different name

Three public elementary schools in Lakeview are being combined into one new school that will open in the fall.

Hartsdale Elementary School will welcome kindergarten to Grade 5 students currently attending Neil C. Matheson, Byngmount Beach and Lyndwood public schools.

It will house the students, temporarily, at the Neil C. Matheson site until the new school, being built at the Lyndwood site, is ready one year later.

Grades 6-8 students at Byngmount and Lyndwood will attend Allan A. Martin Sr. Public School this fall.

The name of the new school was approved on Tuesday night (May 11) by Peel District School Board trustees.

The decision to build a new school comes in the wake of an Accommodation Review Committee process that reviewed Lakeview schools for potential consolidation due to declining enrollment.
