Opening comments: More at the end. Mississauga News Mississauga ON, L5C 3A9 RE: Request & Complaint about Mississauga News staff. Dear Sirs: Apr. 5, 2013 It is requested that the Mar. 22, 2013 article by Louie Rosella - “Former mayoral candidate’s assault trial continues in the fall”, be taken down from your web-site, corrections be published noting the lack of facts, improper wording and bias research done, as well as an apology to me. To understand how such an improper article was written & published, some background is needed. I have since 1994 been very active in local politics, human rights, environmental issues and an opponent of Hazel McCallion. With community support have been very successful, such as the Cawthra Bush. However the Mississauga News, often called the “Missing News” has not covered these events in an as unbias fashion as it should have. The Toronto Star reporter, Mike Funston, who covered Mississauga for many years & knew what was really happening, was far more respectful of those fighting Mississauga City hall, just to state there were reporters doing our Democracy credit. Louie Rosella is a recent new comer and not to please with the “Missing News” editorial line because of the limits it placed on what can be reported & how. From the start he expressed to me the dire to find a job else where when we talked shop. Over time and clear he was stuck, he became very disinterested the facts and upset when noting to him all that was not being reported & how it was playing a great part in making Mississauga a worse place. Examples of how he has become bias or disgruntle towards me would be at the Mississauga Inquiry, I again informed him of how I had government of Ontario documents showing Hazel & Peter’s signatures on the same page of a Corporate transfer, that also showed the Mayor has unlawfully done subdivisions on the very property she was first found to be in Conflict of Interest! He has no interest. Called him to note errors in the Oct. 11, 2011, article - "Crash was suicide attempt" - "Witnesses say a Ford Fusion was travelling (sic) at a high rate of speed along South Service. When it smashed through the sound wall and was launched onto the highway ..." Apart from spelling, it is impossible for the accident to have happened as reported as the South Service Rd., runs along side the highway and I had spoken to others who knew what really happened. When I tried to help him correct this error, he veberblaly abuses me with statements like are you a police accident expert? - 1 - ....2 Most recently, it was noted to his editors the picture used in the article Mar. 21, 2013 - “Jail drug smuggler for life: Crown”, was of a person in the Court building and that was likely not properly taken. The picture was removed from the article and no thanks to me. When I was commenting on the picture it was noted that I was recently in Court, mopping the floor with City staff & Peel police, the Missing News no where to be seen. This is most likely where he got the “tip” from. So fresh from having to change a story because of my input he writes a one sided article without seeking my lawyers or my comments, ignores the comments already made, clearly has got details from some source (police or Crown?), uses misleading wording, given the facts of what really happened at the trial grossly misleads readers, uses a picture without giving proper credit to who took it or from what the name of the video was, uses past events not directly related to the trial of a negative nature, nothing of the hard won achievements for the community, nothing about why the trial has been delayed till Oct., makes no mention of how the City came after us in 2006 as I was running for Mayor with an unfounded property standards complaint (covered by the Mississauga News) and would not return calls made protesting this article. All in all, it is best to say the lie of omission has been used often. The two Editors who over see Mr. Rosella, Gerry Timbers - Managing Editor & John Stewart - Assignment Editor are also at issue, as they would take no actions to correct the errors and support what has happened. They had messages left with reasons to take down the article and didn’t even return them. I did call John Stewart to try and sort the matter out but he would not even acknowledge the wording in the sentence - “The officer suffered minor cuts” which is wrong in statement of fact & that it doesn’t say City By-law inspector, not officer, people would be mislead into thinking a police officer. Just another example of how the Missing News is defaming me. The Missing News has also allowed its comment section to these articles to become a breeding ground for right-wing haters who promote harming or blaming the victims (like me) and promoting crime & a culture of crime toward weaker members of the community. I am willing to discuss my letter with you. My phone number is (***) ***-*** & E-mail . Sincerely yours, Mr. Donald Barber.
