RE: Mississauga’s new special tax. Submitted to the Mississauga News, Nov. 8, 2007 I told you so - while campaigning for the Mayor’s office in the last election I kept saying that the City of Mississauga was effectively more than 5 billion in debt because of its need to rebuild its infrastructure. Work that has to be done.
It was reported as far back as June of 2005 by the Mississauga News and it appears I was the only one to remember it. Tried to make it and coming tax increases an election issue but few would listen to such common sense.
Well the tax increases will also not end here.
Mississauga is showing its wrinkles that City of its age should. In the past it was just a matter of just developing some more farmers fields to get enough in developers fees, etc., to keep taxes down - no more. Now our politicians must live in the same reality that almost every other city (like Toronto), has to live in and now we will see just how special they are or are not.
How the Mississauga News, printed it Nov. 15, 2007
