A retired Peel Regional Police officer has been charged following an internal affairs investigation into stolen property.
Eugene Dopp, 52, a constable with the force, was arrested after it is alleged he was in possession of property stolen from Peel Police. Dopp was subsequently charged with possession of stolen property after investigators recovered a quantity of Peel Police badges. He will appear in Orangeville Court Nov. 15
Back in 2006, Dopp won a stay of prosecution on several charges, including possession of child pornography, because of delays in bringing the case to trial.

I don't have any opinion on the case. He hasn't been convicted of the theft charges and he was not convicted of the child porn charges in 2006. He got off on a technicality but, for better or worse, in our system, unless and until you are convicted, you must be considered innocent. It's a legal concept of course but that's the way it works.

Really interested to know what Mantis thinks of this one. I mean, he worships all authority figures, but then this one has been caught with kiddie porn, among other things. He must be so conflicted. Since this guy was caught for such a heinous crime, I sincerely hope it wasn't the blue wall that led to the charges being dropped. Would they protect their own in a child porn case?
