Sounds like a job for Peel party police - they can find 2-4s of beer no matter where they are hidden - that is if they have not already, nudge, nudge, wink, wink - say no MORE! Toronto Star - Jun 13, 2007 - By Tamsyn Burgmann, Staff Reporter 93,600 bottles of beer stolen Three abandoned tractor-trailers found in Peel region once held thousands of full cases of beer but police believe the brew is now for sale somewhere in Toronto. The trucks, each initially holding 1,300 24-bottle cases of Corona and Corona Light beer — 93,600 bottles in all — were stolen between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday from an unguarded parking lot in an industrial area of Cobourg, east of Port Hope, said Terry Stanley of Cobourg police. He said the theft has the marks of organized crime, with the haul worth more than $150,000. "There had to be a buyer of some kind, somebody expecting it," he said. "You're not going to set up a shop on the street corner." No one has been arrested, Stanley said, adding that the beer won't be easy to recover. "Proving it came off one of these trucks will be next to impossible." Home Page - Main Table of Contents - Back up a page - Back to Top [COMMENTS BY DON B. - ] |
