Mississauga News - Nov. 10, 2009 - Letter by Peter Mills.

Smear campaign?

Dear Editor:

I moved to Mississauga in July from Durham Region.

Since that time I have read, with interest, the letters-to-the-editor page in your newspaper.

One of the first things I noticed was an apparent campaign, by some folks, to unseat Mississauga’s Mayor Hazel McCallion.

I am left with the thought that this is an effort brought about by jealousy combined with a struggle for power.

Hazel McCallion is known across Canada (maybe even beyond) as the mayor that could — and did.

Her efforts on behalf of the City of Mississauga have been enormous, and the benefits of those efforts are evident for all to see.

I, as a non-car owner, am mightily impressed with the transit system.  I also see evidence that people such as myself, a senior, are taken into consideration.

Therefore, all I can suggest to Ward 6 Councillor Carolyn Parrish is to quit trying to besmirch the mayor.  If she desires to be mayor, (she can tell us in the next election) why we should vote for her.

Mississauga needs to spring in 3rd person independant Mayors like Buzz Hargrove

Waste of Funds

Is this anything less than Carolyn Parrish attempting to dig her claws in for a chance at being Mayor? Since day one it's been painfully obviously that she's coveted Hazel's seat; whilst publicly stating she's fine with waiting for Hazel to retire, it's pretty obvious that her own agenda is fueling this. She can't run against her, doesn't want to wait, and this reeks of sneaking in the back door.

So. I wonder when Anti Muse is going to show up... :-)

Speaking of ridiculous, I'm proud to say that I resisted adding the names of all Seven Mississauga Councillors to Phil Green's online petition!

OK, I vote this one the worst of all so far.

Based on "I moved to Mississauga in July from Durham Region." Imagine. Here three months and already feels knowledgeable enough to "share". Oh well, Durham's "loss" is our even bigger loss. Serious question. Has MYTHissauga always been like this only I just never noticed? (These Letters to the Editor are tough on the brain cells.)
