Petition aims to cancel judicial probe

Calling the judicial inquiry that will investigate alleged conflicts of interest regarding land purchases in the City Centre a low point in Mississauga’s history, Port Credit resident Phil Green has launched an online petition seeking to cancel the probe.

The former federal Conservative candidate said he started the undertaking with the support of four councillors — Pat Mullin, Maja Prentice, Katie Mahoney and Pat Saito — who voted against the inquiry.

Green hopes enough residents will sign the petition so as to convince the seven councillors who voted for the inquiry to change their minds.

The inquiry will investigate, among a wide range of issues, Mayor Hazel McCallion’s private meetings with her son’s company while the deal was still being considered by councillors.

During an Oct. 28 meeting, Council approved the terms of reference prepared by City solicitor Mary Ellen Bench for an inquiry estimated to cost $2.5 million and last about 40 days.

“The allegations are minor, and no member of Council, including the mayor, is alleged to have personally benefited,” Green writes in his petition.  “The inquiry will poison the atmosphere at City Hall.  City staff, instead of serving you, the residents and ratepayers of Mississauga, will be distracted serving lawyers.”

Green says there are much simpler and less expensive ways to address the allegations of misconduct by members of Council.

Not everyone, however, agrees with Green.

“Anyone who signs this petition is either admitting to ignorance of the terms of the inquiry or is being dishonest about it,” wrote Uatu, a blogger responding to Green's petition.

The petition can be accessed at www.petitiononline.com/MissInqu/petition.html

The Four Seasons and their STAFFers are well seasoned fibbers

This petition in itself is loaded with staffers and ex-staffers. Nando's name appears to be used to bait the public with the impression he's changed his own position on the inquiry but is listed three times 533, 534, 537 that raises more questions on ethics used behind manipulating improper recording of minutes

MISSISSAUGAWATCH becomes PetitionWatch

Online Petition Watch: November 11, 2009 9:04 AM. 570 Total Signatures. And through here it's confirmed that some of them fake. Of course, no telling how many. Will admit that to test the legitimacy of this petition, I videotaped myself putting in three names which I will eventually advise Mr. Green of. I'll also add two more at different times for tests (also videotaped). I'm interested in whether the initiators of online petitions have petition-software to identify fakes. I suspect it does not but who knows? This will prove interesting.

What Phil Green fails to mention. Two words can sum all this up. "STAFF LIE"

Staff lie. City of Mississauga Staff lie. Confirmed through audio/video transcripts and especially in their own emails secured through Freedom of Information. Not only do City Staff lie, but it's chronic. Staff lie. Phil, I invite you ANY time for lunch or dinner (on me) and I'll show you the two years worth of Freedom of Information.

You know it's getting really rancid...

I've got video of a ROGERS TV cameraman walking from one end of the Council Chambers to the other and passing me each time to "interview" the Innocuous during that bogus Enersource public meeting. Now we got Radhika Panjwani reporting on Phil Green of all people! Phil Green! This article does it for me. Phil Green's online petition is as just so MYTHissauga. No Science to it. No intellectual honesty. Nice plaque on the second floor though...

I’d don’t think #530 Montgomery Burns, Homer, Marg, Bart and Lisa Simpson #528, # 529, # 527, #531 are very convincing

It might even hamper with the defense if the exhibit gets examined at disclosure dealing with the issues on “improper recording of minutes”
