Dear Editor:Re: “Hazelgate,” Oct. 2 article The issue in question involves Mayor Hazel McCallion for supposedly favouring her son in a City Centre development project. Astonishingly, she made the same mistake (if one can call it a mistake) in 1980, as recalled by former City councillor Larry Taylor in the Sept. 26-27 edition of your paper. McCallion is a mayor of big stature, but even so, society can’t tolerate any misconduct. I am skeptical, though, that she could do wrong in the presence of vigilant media and other City council members. It’s probable that some people are conspiring to discredit her. OR... if Dr. Khan actually did his homework (especially watching Mississauga and Peel Council meetings using Freedom of Information) and researched Mississauga municipal governance, he'd know that 1. Mississauga doesn't HAVE a vigilant media, 2.other Council members are NOT vigilant either. In fact a few Councillors are nothing short of comatose. And as for "conspiring to discredit" the Mayor.
