RE: Letter for next Council agenda - in regards to Janice Baker’s May 26, letter and delay in dealing with the serious
complaints filed with the City of Mississauga.
Dear Members of Mississauga Council: June 4, 2008
At the May 21, 2008, Council meeting Janice Baker’s May 15th., Corporate Report on how to deal with my complaints was rejected by Council in a vote of non-confidence regarding her work, the minutes note the matter has been “referred back to staff”. In Janice Baker’s May 26, letter it is noted that she does “not expect to be in a position to report back Council until the fall.”, {odd it should take her 5 days to write me after Council} and she goes on to state “I appreciate your patience in this matter.” “Patience” - “until the fall”, that is not going to happen, as I know full well, from years of dealing with City politicians, this is just an effort to drag this on for years, in hopes it goes away one way or other!
It is not reasonable to wait till the fall as matters regarding public safety and security are at issue. These issues and risks to all members of the public (that Council clearly does not full appreciate), are very serious and affect any one coming into contact with City staff, City politicians, especially those dealing with City security - willingly or not. The danger to the public / taxpayers is such it would be negligent not to take action now, on certain items, to eliminate the unacceptable or even the unlawful manner in which staff conducts its affairs. Letters submitted to Jamie Hillis - Cathie Evens - City Security Operations and Mary Ellan Bench, City Solicitor, detail these issues which at the worse can be seen as in violation of the Canadian Criminal code and MUST BE stopped now.
It would be a good idea to create a Bill of Rights for the public accessing Mississauga buildings, staff and elected officials to off-set all the By-laws etc., that are aimed at what is not allowed.
